Building young leadership capacity across the globe to change the trajectory of health for humanity

At Johnson & Johnson, we are committed to building leadership capacity in the health and care giving arena and empowering young leaders both within our organization and in the outside world, to change the trajectory of health for humanity. We have partnered with One Young World, an NGO which connects the world’s most impactful young leaders to create a better world, since 2013. To date, over 240 Johnson & Johnson OYW leaders (aged 18-30) from across the globe have participated in our six month learning and development program, providing them with the unique opportunity to debate and formulate innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing health issues.

The Johnson & Johnson OYW Scholarship Program

In 2017, we launched our J&J OYW Scholarships Program offering scholarships to aspiring global young leaders working on the front lines of care. As well as attending the OYW Summit, scholarship recipients receive individual coaching from senior Johnson & Johnson leaders to further develop their aspiration, strategy and/or initiatives. In addition, all J&J OYW scholars are provided with a team of J&J delegates over the course of the six-month program to help build and strengthen the capacity of the Scholar, through the sharing of their skills and knowledge.

The role of coaching in the J&J OYW Scholarship Program

All J&J OYW scholars receive 1:1 coaching from senior J&J leaders to further develop and build their leadership capacity. These sessions explore the key challenges facing the scholars in terms of growing or scaling their organisation, services or products and provide a wealth of knowledge and expertise from the corporate world to guide the scholars on their leadership journey, and achieve a positive impact to human health.
