SOS Children’s Villages International supports orphaned and abandoned children across the World. The organization’s mission is to build families for children in need, while helping them to shape their own futures and sharing in the development of their communities. SOS Children’s Villages provides a safe home; healthy meals and medical care; a family environment with a loving SOS mother; schooling and emergency relief in crisis situations.

SOS Children’s Villages has been a partner of the Secondment Program since 2015.
By end of 2019, 13 J&J secondees will have taken part in a long-term secondment with SOS Children’s Villages International.

Bringing Stories to Life

As a data analysis specialist at Janssen Russia, Marat Guriev’s role was to develop branded data visuals about the realities for children and youth at risk of neglect, abuse or abandonment for use within the NGO’s annual report and other materials. His six month secondment at the NGO’s head office in Vienna in 2017, involved mining data to make it informative, accessible and share worthy, with the focus on empowering decision-makers to champion effective development strategies for children, young people and families at risk.

All secondees are coached during their secondments by our coaching community, a team of retired J&J senior executives who give their time for free to support the secondees on their journey. Marat was coached by Joerg Gerber, former HR Director, Janssen Supply Chain Global, who shared his 19 years of experience at Johnson & Johnson with Marat, to add even more value to the NGO.

Since 2014, 23 J&J seondees have been promoted or had a career development on their return to J&J.
